Resources to Support Your Warrior Heart

Our warrior hearts are rising - those that are based on inner power, strength and positive actions which support the collective.

To support our warrior hearts we need to connect with our soul tribe, those who resonate with our vision of the world, and embody the beauty of our hearts.

Here is a collection of resources to support the grounded strength of your warrior heart, especially during this time.

BODY

Here is Melissa West doing what she does best - offering beautiful, accessible and affirming yoga online. This is her 30 minute hatha yoga class “Warrior Spirit Rise”. It includes some lovely, heart-warming affirmations to support your warrior spirit.

I find sun salutations support the energy of the warrior spirit to rise within me, especially if I practise outside on the Earth.

Dancing is probably the quickest way to get in touch with your warrior heart. Find a dance class online - there are many currently available through eventbrite, just search ‘5Rhythms’ or ‘Sweat Your Prayers’.

Or why not create your own dance class or movement medicine session, moving with your body, instinct and emotion. Take a look at the different music suggestions below... and begin to move…

MUSIC

How about some music? I love beautiful piano music, there’s nothing quite like it for playing the notes of your heartstrings and cultivating joy in the heart - here is Alexis Ffrench with “Heartbeats”

For something more upbeat and to really feel your heart spirit within you, try Byron Metcalfe’s Heart Warriors track.

For lyrics that encapsulate the warrior journey and tempo, calling us forwards with courage, here is “Warrior” by Anilah and featuring Einar Selvik.

Let them resonate in the spaces of your heart, and go on a journey with your own warrior heart…

MIND

Let go of the mind. Allow it to be clear and focused with the simple intention of inviting, cultivating and supporting your warrior heart.

Allow the mind to let go by dropping into movement of the body, music (see above) or the breath. There are many breathing techniques available; the simplest is to bring your hand to your heart and become aware of your breath in and out, gently allowing the breath out to become longer and slower.

FACE

We see each other’s hearts on our faces (as a result of the state of our nervous system and wellbeing) so why not work things back to front - starting with the face as a way to bring joy to the heart?

Here is Marisa from Yoqi with a Qi facial to bring energy and love to your face…and allow it to support and strengthen your heart.

Smiling. This is a simple technique, but a highly efficient one. Bringing a smile to your face strengthens your heart, releases endorphins in your own brain and encourages others to smile more too! The true warrior knows the joy of the heart, the generosity and wellbeing of the soul, and the importance of loving connection with self and others.

EARTH

Re-read the letter I wrote in this blog from our Great Mother Earth

Spending time in the sun (take care in the middle of the day - use sunscreen!) The heart loves warmth and the fire energy resonance of the sun strengthens the energy in your own body and spirit.

Medicine Chant by Anilah - yes, technically it’s music but for me it is more like sound than music and it captures the sound of the Earth so magnificently. Even better, lie down on the Earth while you listen…

SPIRIT

The greatest strength of the peaceful warrior is compassion. Cultivating compassion for yourself is the starting point, the rock and root of your heart’s shining greatness. Tara Brach offers some wonderful meditations for compassion - try this meditation to connect with your awakened heart or browse her site.

Pray. Develop your own practice if you do not have a faith background. Praying is simply fostering a dialogue with your heart and the Divine, which essentially are the same thing. Praying opens up the voice of your heart; it is a lovesong to yourself.
