For HSPs: Rooting Your Self-Esteem In Your Beautiful Trait

There’s only one thing that can build your self-esteem, and that’s you. Don’t look out there... Look internally... that’s your power and it lasts your entire life.
— Marisa Peer

This is who you are.

This is the brain and the nervous system you have been wired with.

And, they are marvellous.

You have been designed this way - styled, engineered, created with purpose.

Simply because it is antithetical to mainstream (Western) culture, need not be a reflection on your own sense of self.

I was pondering recently on how I had made myself smaller, tried to squash down my sensitivities in front of other people and attempted to ‘fit in’ to what was acceptable in my family and society. I had in many ways closed off the source of my potential, the element of my inner power and the possibilities that I am capable of.

And then I had the dawning realisation that I was actually too big for their frame of reference - not too small, or unimportant, as I had previously concluded. It should have been a clue when people said I was ‘too much’ or ‘too sensitive’. Those less sensitive than myself simply couldn’t see all of me or didn’t know what to do with the essence of me… and neither of these things was a true reflection of who I am.

This simple shift in perspective is actually a huge, fundamental shift internally. It changes everything.

At the moment I am witnessing a rising of people’s potential, inner beauty and their essential nature coming to the surface - coming to light. Of owning who they are and stepping into an empowered place from the foundation of being HSP.

This is about changing the story personally and internally, and being part of a worldwide movement of HSPs which then in turn affect our culture. Switching the direction of esteem from swallowing detrimental external messages (you’re not good enough, you don’t belong etc.) to being a positive contributor to the world from a grounded and rooted place of knowing, validating and affirming who you are.

As the external world becomes more aligned with HSP preferences - honouring the need for space and quiet, reducing busy-ness and noise, doing what is essential, spending time in nature, pausing and resting, becoming rooted in values of the heart - HSPs are able to finally see themselves reflected back in society. And what an opportunity this allows us.

It’s time to reclaim your self-esteem, if you lost it or gave it away at any time to a reference point outside of yourself.

It’s time to become rooted in the truth of your nature and being.

Your design is your key to healthy self-esteem.

What if the very thing you struggled and fought with within yourself was your greatest ally?

What if you rooted yourself in the deep algorithms that govern your inner world and sense of the outer world?

What if within you was a masterpiece of creation - a place of gifts, mystery and possibility?

If circa 80-85% of the population are unable to access this depth (non-HSPs), then perhaps it is requisite that you go there, make your home there, reside in this incredible network of your body and mind and spirit.

To root your self-esteem within the very place you have been told is a wasteland.

What if this, actually, is your rock?

Your true place of being yourself, knowing yourself and expressing yourself.

No-one else can bring the gifts you have into the world and, as a Highly Sensitive Person, you have plenty. You have access to more - more emotion, more inspiration, more depth of processing, more passion, more connection to the Great Mysteries.

Having more, means being a responsible contributor. What is your contribution? How are you going to figure it out, let it emerge from you?

Make a simple and fundamental shift in your perspective, root your self-esteem in the beautiful trait of being HSP, and bring to life the extraordinary capacity within you.

Reveal your inner beauty as an HSP.
