Life Is Like A... Series Of Yoga Classes
I have just come back to yoga after almost a year's hiatus. And I have fallen in love with it all over again.
I am reminded of how amazing yoga is for assisting in the process of self development and awakening. How vital it is for all of my joints, connective tissues, and organs. And how enlivening the practice of yoga is for my soul.
This time I am following classes using my inner guidance and the questions "What does my body or soul need right now?" or "What am I processing?"
There are so many online yoga videos you can do at home. My favourite is Melissa West Yoga at melissawest.com. This is mainly hatha yoga with a few restorative classes and some new yin yoga in the most recent series. With her fantastically thought-out and well-paced classes, Melissa offers an emotional and spiritual perspective that contrasts many striving, perfectionist classes available elsewhere. This is not about contorting, but rather about coming home to yourself.
Recently I have started a practice of self-testing a muscle response (kinesiology) to see which yoga video is the optimal class to take.
And I have been astonished at how accurately my energy system and muscle responses have taken me to exactly the right class for that moment.
The different responses, variation, and yet perfect classes, day to day remind me how life really is like a box of chocolates - or the healthy version, like a series of yoga classes!
Combined with kinesiology it is like the ability to look under the waves, to dive into the ocean and explore the vastness of your spiritual human experience. It is a direct access to you and your life.
From yoga for energy meridians that have come up in my Creative Kinesiology sessions, to targeting the specific areas of my body that require releasing and stretching, each session has enabled my body to shift on physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels.
I am reminded how we are always changing and fluid; our inner lives are never as constant or fixed as we are lead to believe they are. Underneath the surface there is an enormous amount of change occurring day to day.
If you can tap into that inner flow, and dive beneath the surface of your 'normal' life, you will find quite extraordinary awakening, expansion and increasing self-knowledge.
Yoga is the perfect vehicle for stepping into the flow and moving with the current of your life. You can follow your inner self through body sensations, aches or discomfort, emotions, your organs or meridians, or your subtle energy.
And in life, as in yoga, there will be magical moments, gifts and personal growth that are rewarded to those that seek the depths.
