Good Energy Hygiene For Empaths

Energetic care is a must for all empaths.

Think of it like your routine tasks of brushing your teeth or taking a shower. Energy care is this important for empaths, if you want to stay healthy and feel energised.

If you do not identify as an empath these practices may be less essential but they will probably make you feel good!

Here are some suggestions to keep you clear, grounded and centred...

ENERGY MEDICINE

There are loads of energy practitioners full of energy advice out there. My recommendation would be to incorporate some energy exercises by Donna Eden into your daily routine. Tapping at the thymus for energy, cross-crawling for brain synchronisation or tracing meridian lines to maintain your energetic boundaries. Plenty of videos online.

EFT

As a form of energy medicine, EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) uses tapping on various acupressure points. From a Five Element perspective this helps keep your five elements in balance, and helps you feel like you - not like someone else! Great when you are overwhelmed, or feeling something from someone/where else.

TAI CHI / QI GONG / YOGA

Gentle movement practices like Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Yoga or others work with the body's natural energy and movements. They combine mindfulness, body and spirit, so that you gain awareness of your inner self, connect with your body and allow your energy to be restored and used appropriately. These deep and ancient practices understand energy at a deep level - enjoy!

PSYCHIC PROTECTION

Unfortunately there are some negative energetic hooks out there and unwanted lower energies that can enter into open, sensitive energy systems. Practices to cleanse the chakras and aura are helpful, again plenty of videos online. You may also like to have to hand a spray such as white sage, palo santo or other essential oils for psychic protection. For example Findhorn Flower Essences

WATER

Drinking sufficient amounts of purified water is essential for empaths to stay clear and grounded in the face of daily brushes with other people's energy. Water helps to keep things flowing so they don't get stuck with you. When you are processing more emotions and energies than others, water is vital.

EARTH

Get outdoors, be in nature at least once a day. Smell the roses, notice the seasons and natural cycles. Enjoy fresh air, sunshine, raindrops. The Earth can soak up any extra or unwanted energy - go barefoot on the ground, dip hands or feet into rivers or sea, or stay out under the moon and moon-bathe. The best energy medicine you will find!
