A Link Between Good Sleep and Life Purpose?

What are you getting out of bed for in the morning? What is motivating you?

Last year there was some more fascinating research from the US on sleep quality and purpose in life, and the findings may surprise you.

In a study by Turner, Smith and Ong, 825 older people aged 60-100 were interviewed regarding both their sleep quality and their purpose in life.

The participants who said they had more meaning in life, were less likely to have specific sleep disturbances such as sleep apnea or restless leg syndrome.

Amazing isn't it? That meaning in life could make for a more restful night.

Humans' remarkable capacity and striving to make meaning is quite astonishing. And who would have thought this might have a link to sleep quality, and therefore health?

This research adds to the growing number of studies that link psychological wellbeing to better physical health and a reduced susceptibility to mental and physical illness.

The researchers indicate that finding purpose in life can be cultivated through the use of mindfulness therapies. And this is one of the key areas of exploration I am honoured to facilitate through Creative Kinesiology.

Kinesiology taps into your body's energy system, that amazing flow of electricity generated in your bones, nerves and fascia. It connects you to your body, sensations, emotions and thoughts, bringing your focus to the present moment.

It is mindfulness in a dynamic process of personal development.

And, one of the key areas that Creative Kinesiology assists with is in the discovery of your unique gifts, talents and life purpose.

Why are you here? What is the meaning or purpose in your life? What is of great importance to you and gives you a mission in life?

Maybe finding answers to these questions through kinesiology, understanding the meaning of events in your life, and discovering your soul's calling could help you get a better night's sleep. I sincerely hope so!
