The Energy of the Red Fire Monkey: Chinese New Year 2016

The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.
— Plutarch

I personally love Chinese New Year.

It's big, bold, bright, and holds important messages for the energy of the year.

I am also a big believer in learning from the cultures and traditions of those around the globe, even if we did not grow up with them. They teach us so much about what matters in other people's lives. Absorbing the meaning and the excitement of rituals that are so important to millions of people, and finding out how they resonate with me, too, is one of my joys.

Chinese New Year is celebrated on 8th February, alongside the new moon (in Aquarius). It is a very definite new beginning, with fresh and cheeky surprises for 2016...

As we move from the year of the Peaceful Wood Sheep to the year of the Red Fire Monkey, it sounds like a dramatic contrast!

I have to chuckle at how my Chinese New Year is starting - I have a meeting on 8th February with the word Monkey in the title! I love the universe's secret jokes.

The essence of Sheep teaches (or should I say, taught) us how to come together, find ways to harmonise and become more gentle and nurturing - with ourselves and those around us. Here is an opportunity to reflect back on the last year - where do you see themes of compassion, family, and humanitarianism in your life?

And from our year of nourishment, we have a secure base to explore the world...

The Red Fire Monkey brings us energy, creativity, and boldness. The message I am receiving strongly about the Chinese New Year 2016, is FEARLESS. And this is what the Monkey can assist us with.

Being FEARLESS about our purpose. Being FEARLESS about our path.

Taking action towards our goals, shifting nimbly from branch to branch seeking the best that we can be/do/have. Feeling the fire in our belly that propels us on our path, finding deeper levels of courage and strength to persevere and succeed.

Movement and rapid change. Launching into new projects, without any need to plan in advance because so much is constantly changing this year. Quick and nimble thinking.

So this is a fast-faced year, with plenty of mental activity and opportunities ready to be seized. The Red Fire Monkey energy will help you, even if you do not yet feel ready.

So, go run and jump with the Red Fire Monkey and be fearless this year!
