Lighting the Spark of Love At Valentine's Day

A spark of kindness can start a fire of love.
— Nishan Panwar

Following the recent posts on Chinese New Year and Imbolc, we have an opportunity this Valentine's Day to draw on the dynamic, fiery energy of new, exciting beginnings, and shape them into practical actions...

With this active energy and the coming of Spring, we can more easily light that spark within us. This is our inner spark that brings us creativity, connection, and a feeling of joyfulness and vitality!

Now I'm not necessarily talking about being in love or romantic love. You can express this spark within you - and light a fire - in many ways...

Friendship is such a blessing, and more important for our health than many of us may realise. Social connections are strongly linked to wellbeing at all times in our lives. So what a perfect opportunity to reach out to friends for a get-together, Valentine's brunch, or simply to pick up the phone and call someone we haven't heard from in a while.

What about treating yourself to something special on Valentine's Day? Something special does not have to mean material or expensive! Perhaps you are greatly overdue some self-care, relaxation or rest. It may be time to reward yourself for your achievements and truly celebrate you!

You could even extend your inner spark into the world, if you feel connected to humanitarian issues or have a special talent that you keep ignoring. Now is the time to share it! You could reach out into your community to support local events, charities or start volunteering for a cause that really matters to you. Make use of the bold energies, and infuse them with your gifts or creativity.

We can also tend to our inner spark through connection to our spirit. That may be through yoga, prayer or time in nature. You could journal about your passions, seek out what inspires you and set some goals that align with your sense of purpose.

And of course, if you are in a romantic relationship then you can tend to the spark that exists between you. Learn to understand your partner's love language, and take action this year to show them love in ways that will most uplift them.

Whatever you do, be kind. Look after your heart and the hearts of those around you.

Happy Valentine's Day!
