Life On Earth Can Feel Too Hard Sometimes

This is a delicate subject, but one I think about often.

Life can seem too hard sometimes, especially with the many tragic events that have happened recently in the UK.

People are struggling to find peace.

Hopelessness and outrage are in the driving seat when it comes to catastrophes and injustice. Anger is an excellent motivator to use our voices and power for good. But what happens when the anger dries up? If we feel completely powerless? If we lose hope?

Suicidal thoughts are common.

Yes, I just broke the taboo! This scares some people, and it is not a conversation I am writing about lightly. To write this has taken me courage, but I think these are conversations that we need to start having - with our loved ones and in our communities.

More people than ever are wondering how they continue forwards.

Events in the world are snowballing, and Western society is polarised.

Life on Earth feels too hard sometimes, especially for those who are highly sensitive, struggling with the world around them or facing inner conflict.

About Howard Nemerov by Patrick Emerson

I see people passionately pursuing their dreams and helping to create a fairer, cleaner and sustainable world. I see communities of people gathering together in support. And I see people swallowed up in the negativity, the prejudice and the sheer injustices that face us day to day. I see isolation and suffering.

We need to acknowledge how common this is, how common is the wish to leave the trauma and tragedy behind.

Finding meaning and finding faith - whatever these mean to each of us - are the lights that can guide us through the darkness.

To feel a sense of purpose and connect with your reason for being in the world, brings hope.

To feel a connection to something greater than ourselves, brings hope.

I do not think that we can get through this particular time without courageous conversations about suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, meaning and faith.

We need to connect with each other in our darkness, to find the light.
